Using the output of an optical character recognition (OCR) process, line and word locations can be determined, allowing interactive selection and highlighting of references to people and places. A demonstration of how biographical information can be extracted and displayed in a geotemporal browser. The KML file, when loaded into Google Earth, shows the birthplace and (and applicable) death place for all of the members of the U.S. Congress since the first Congress in 1789. A demonstration of how historical statistical information can be extracted and displayed in a geotemporal browser. The KML files, when loaded into Google Earth, show the Irish Barony or Poor Law Union outlines and population for the 1841, 1851, 1861 and 1871 census.
